Marijuana smokers are getting harder and harder to spot these days. It's not just the long-haired pizza driver/guitarist who lives in the basement. Everyone from Uncle Mick to Dr. John to lawyer Ralph smokes these days. But what about your friendly psychopathic neighbors? Yes, apparently, even they like to smoke pot.
MARIJUANA CREATES PSYCHOPATHS
According to a study by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the risk of developing psychosis more than triples in those who abuse marijuana. Does this mean that smoking pot more often than average will make you and all your friends psychopaths? Not necessarily. There are genetic factors that influence both pot abuse and mental problems.
AMERICA AND NORWAY TEAM UP TO STUDY PSYCHOPATHS AND MARIJUANA
Researchers from Norway and Virginia have teamed up to study the relationship between marijuana and psychopaths. Apparently, they used interviews with Norwegian twins to do so. Previous research has shown that people with mental disorders smoke more pot than most people. However, researchers are divided on whether pot is the only cause of these mental problems. So they had to cover both sides of the argument in this study. So they tested both theories that pot causes psychosis and that psychosis leads to smoking pot.
ACCUSING THE PSYCHOPATHS IN YOUR FAMILY OF SMOKING MARIJUANA
Do you love pot strongly? Stronger than any of your friends? Well, it turns out that this is no coincidence. By looking at your family history, we can understand why you love the joint so much. Heredity explains up to 88% of why some people abuse pot. So do some research. If you have a history of psychotic behavior in your family, it's probably best to monitor your drug use. Both for your sake and for society's.
